The Story

Fifty years of almonds.

In 1975 Frank Mariani opened a small shop in Melbourne and started packing nuts by hand. Five decades later his son Mark runs the business — and we still pack every bag the same way.

The almonds in this bag are grown in South Australia. We buy direct from the family farms we've worked with for years and they arrive at our facility in Melbourne ready to be roasted in small batches.

Sea salt goes on while the almonds are still warm so it bonds to the surface — not the bottom of the bag. Three steps: slow roast, salt, hand pack. No oils, no sugars, no shortcuts.

How they're made

Three steps. No shortcuts.

i.

Slow roasted

Roasted at low temperature in small batches — never industrially blasted. The slow heat draws out the almond's natural oil and lets the flavour develop properly.

ii.

Salted while warm

Finished with sea salt straight off the heat, so it bonds to the surface of the nut and doesn't end up sliding off into the bottom of the bag.

iii.

Packed by hand

Weighed and sealed by our team in Melbourne. Every bag is checked by a person, not a sensor. That's the slow part — and the part we won't change.

Questions buyers ask us

Frequently asked

Where are these almonds grown?

South Australia. We buy direct from family farms we've worked with for years and pack everything by hand in Melbourne.

Are they gluten-free?

Almonds are naturally gluten-free. Our facility handles tree nuts and wheat-containing products, so these are not certified gluten-free for coeliac purposes.

How long do they last?

Sealed: twelve months from the pack date printed on the back of the bag. Once opened, around four weeks if you reseal — though most people don't need that long.

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship Australia-wide from our Melbourne facility. Shipping rates and delivery estimates are shown at checkout.

What's in this mix exactly?

Roasted almonds, roasted cashews, pistachios, dried cranberries, and sultanas. Real fruit, real nuts, no glazes, no fillers, no peanuts (we keep peanuts to specific products).

Is it suitable for a school lunchbox?

Many schools restrict tree nuts — check your school's policy. The cranberries and sultanas are kid-friendly; the nuts are the variable.
